Algarve birding locations include a variety of different habitats; dependent on season and tides we will visit salinas, lakes, saltmarsh, hills, steppe grasslands and woodlands.
Around Tavira.  A wetland area, the importance of which is internationally recognized under the Ramsar Convention.
Quinta do Marim. Headquarters of the Ria Formosa Natural Park where habitats include a fresh water lake.
Cape St Vincent. The most south-westerly point of mainland Europe where the coastline is formed mainly by rocky cliffs.
Castro Verde area.  Where one of our main targets will be the Great Bustard, a species which can sometimes be difficult to see.
Ludo and Quinta do Lago.  Located west of Faro near to the airport and between them have an excellent mix of habitats.
Lagoa dos Salgados.  Sometimes referred to as Pera Marsh, this is one of the most popular birding sites in the Algarve.
Ria de Alvor.  Located between Portimão and Lagos, this  Natura 2000 site comprises dunes, marshes and salt-pans as well as the river estuary and is one of the most-studied natural areas in the Algarve. 
Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António Natural Reserve.  An enormous area of wetland, saltmarsh and saltpans close to the River Guadiana.
